The Educational Foundation exists primarily to make the Pike experience better for students. Most of the time, the Foundation operates in ways that students may not realize. For example, it provides financial support for leadership programs that many students attend without recognizing the Foundation’s behind-the-scenes support. However, several of our programs are very visible to students.
The Robertson Award
The Robertson Award recognizes Pi Kappa Alpha’s outstanding graduating senior with a generous scholarship. Pi Kappa Alpha first recognized its outstanding graduating senior in 1926 with an award administered by the alumni chapter of Buffalo, N.Y., and the award’s first recipient was Howard Bell Arbuckle Jr. (Davidson, Beta ’25). No such award existed between 1936 and 1961. From 1962 until 1998, the award was known as the Powers Award, and its recipients include some of our Fraternity’s most interesting alumni.
The Sabre & Key Honor Society
The Sabre & Key Honor Society recognizes Pi Kappa Alpha's outstanding undergraduate scholars, who earn at least a 3.5 grade point average (or equivalent) and rank in the top 10% of their classes. The Pi Kappa Alpha Educational Foundation encourages all alumni and undergraduates to nominate their eligible brothers for this prestigious society
Scholarships
The Educational Foundation administers accounts for every chapter which (after they reach a certain level) provide grants for members of that chapter to attend Pike University leadership events. The Foundation also administers a few other chapter-specific and international scholarships, and it provides scholarships to cover the initiation fees of five honor socities.
